National Indoor Champs
Our hockey teams both at Championship and Over 35 levels have been crowned Kings of the Trinidad and Tobago National Indoor tournament which ended recently. Our over 35 players completed their fixtures unbeaten and have now won this title for the third consecutive year. This was achieved in the background of an unfinished Outdoor League in which we again played unbeaten.
In the Indoor Tournament, our Vets Captain, Gary (Griffith), indicated that our team approached every game as a final and respected the strength of each opposing team. As a result, our morale and unity was the cutting edge. The team has a wealth of quality players, such as Gary himself, Azad Ali, Derek Daniel, Errol Dos Santos, Gary Chin, Peter Young Pow, Robert Mouttet, Raffie Govia and Tony Williams. When you consider that we were down 5-1 to Malvern at the half, and recovered to draw level in the final seconds of the game, you will understand the solid mettle of this team

In the Men’s Open Championship Division, we played Defence Force. in the final. We went in at the break 2-2, with Nicholas “Bean” Camacho using his long “bionic” arm to befuddle Fido with a timely reverse stick goal to equalize. The Army, however, did not know what hit them as QPCC’s hockey battalion unleashed a barrage of quick efficient passes that culminated in our scoring five goals to their one in the second period, the game ending 7-3 in our favour. A fantastic and well deserved victory!

Worthy recognition was given to our Club, as Reiza, Dominic and Raffie were elected on the All Star Six Team. Though officially, this was awarded to a player from the Army, we considered Dommers to be the real Most Valuable Player of the tournament and our section so rewarded him.
Main goal scorers were Raffie – 12, Dominic – 10 (scoring 5 from his new position ; what a feat!), Darren Cowie and Shawn Lee Quay – 5 each. Our passion for victory concluded with a great victory, and we will always be “Proud to be a “Parkite”.
