September of Squash
The Squash Committee, along with TGI Fridays Restaurants recently staged an exciting "September of Squash" Tournament for QPCC members.
The event kicked off with the Individual Tournament which carried three (3) categories according to players ranking. The finals of all three categories proved to be extremely competitive with a high standard of Squash being played.
The team tournament also provided spectators with exciting and closely fought games as six (6) teams, each with six (6) players proceeded to battle for ultimate bragging rights. When the final shot was played, team "Long and Hard" captained by Roger "Smiley" Galt defeated Team "Good Length" who was skippered by Jeff Sanguinette. Third place went to team "In De Front" that was led by Earl Wilson.
At the prize giving, the Tournament Organisers recognised TGIF, the tournaments main sponsors and Gatorade for their outstanding assistance in getting the Courts refurbished.
The player who captured the "Spirit of the TGIF September of Squash" was Johanna Agustus.
After the formalities, the players and their families enjoyed the evening with cool beverages, eat's and great music supplied by DJ Larry Govia, with the overwhelming view that September Of Squash must be an annual event on the QPCC callendar.
